Yesterday I was slightly bored. And I think I'm already having huge nesting desires. So I broke out the boxes that had the shelves we bought a while back (they were on sale, woot!) and decided to build them. So here is where baby clothes and baby supplies and cute little baby things will go. We're going to buy more cubes once we know the gender (3 days!). But we like green no matter what it comes out. Now only if we had somewhere to put it. I'm slowing getting rid of our big furniture in here. First the over sized chair. Also contemplating getting rid of the futon. We just have no room. Anyway, here is the picture...

First Baby Dream
I had my first official baby dream since becoming pregnant. It was a girl. And I sucked as a mother. First I was living at my Dad's house and they went camping. When they came home they asked where baby had slept I told them her car seat. So I go to get her out of there and I find I have placed her in a plastic grocery bag for easy carrying. Once I got her out I was holding her and Dad said something and then I kind of dropped her on the couch. Everyone freaked out, I got mad and went to my bedroom. I must say that for being newly born, my baby was very smart, like almost talking and understanding things I said, like "put your arms up" and then giggling a lot when she did it. Then I went back downstairs to get my stuff. And then I woke up.
Apparently I'm going to have a girl. And apparently I'm going to suck at raising the poor child.

Rescheduled and Kicked
Our ultrasound yesterday was canceled due to the weather. We were supposed to get this snow storm of epic proportions (so said all the weather people). While we did get the ice they said we would on Monday, we did not get the 8-12 inches of snow promised. We did get a couple of inches of some wintery mix, which you can pretty much walk on. We were so ready to be bundled up and snowed in... we even bought snacks.
The point though, is that we did not have our ultrasound. We have rescheduled it for this upcoming Monday, the 7th. Of course, we're supposed to get more snow. It doesn't look like it's going to be much though. And so they better not cancel it again. I will be mad. How am I supposed to buy tons of cute things when I have no idea what the little thing is. I would also like to quit referring to "it" as the "thing". So now we wait until Monday, again.
And a new development has taken place. I can now feel this baby moving around and sometimes kicking me. It's weird. And last night I was laying in bed and I had my hand on my lower stomach and that thing kicked me so hard I could feel it on the outside! It was crazy. I think there might have been a scream of surprise. So that's pretty awesome, and kind of like proof that I'm not crazy and I am actually pregnant.

Lessons of Caffeine
These are the things I have learned in the past 24 hours...
1. Dr. Pepper is heavenly
2. While pregnant one might get the craving to drink a LOT of Dr. Pepper
3. Doing so will increase brain use, productivity and creativity that night
4. You will start to feel jittery as the night wears on and wonder what you did differently this night that might be causing this
5. You realize that because you have abstained religiously from caffeine for the past 4 months that you now have no tolerance for the stuff and drinking 3 glasses of it at dinner was in fact, not the brightest of ideas
6. Sleep will not come until about 6 or 6:30 am (as a result you will sleep til 2 pm)
7. You vow not to drink more than a sip of your husband's soda from now on, whilst pregnant

4. and now you will all be getting lots of updates of how I feel, what I'm going through and just my general thoughts on the whole matter. and I seem to have a lot of them the past week or so that I feel the need to share on my blog (and now I can, lucky you!).

5. a photo! here I am tonight at 18w2d....

and I would like to pretend that some of that is baby, but really, I think I look about the same as I did pre-pregnancy. if anything, I think I almost look better (maybe all that throwing up and having no appetite did the trick). but pretty much I'm not showing yet and am just waiting to "pop". i will say though, that it is hard to suck anything in cause there is no more room for it with baby hiding under there.
6. we're completely excited!

Licorice Rope
So last night Jamo and I were watching Juno, cause it's awesome. And in the beginning after she finds out she's pregnant she buys some licorice rope and makes a noose out of it and then takes a huge bite out of it. Needless to say, I wanted some licorice rope after that. And then I had a dream last night that I was trying to buy some at the dollar store and all I had was my credit card and the lady wouldn't let me cause I didn't have my ID with me (even though our credit cards have our pictures on them). And it was only a two dollar purchase I was making. After fighting, and sneaking a bite of it, I stormed out of the store mad I didn't have any licorice rope. End dream. And I don't even know where one would still get licorice rope. Walmart? 7-11? Who knows. It will now be me goal to find some. If worse comes to worst I'll buy some Red Vines.
