March is for Nosebleeds

It's March! And that means that February is over. And it means that we are that much closer to things like, Spring, graduation, baby and the awesomeness of the future. As I was laying in the bed last night I was contemplating a question Jameson had proposed (which probably has a real answer, but I like mine better) about why February was chosen as the month with 28 days. Why not take a some of the days from the 31 day months and just add it on for a 30 day month? Anyway, so I think February is shorter because it HAS to be, especially for those of us who live in a place with 4 seasons. By February everyone is sick of winter, impatiently waiting for spring to come. And you just keep thinking, when is this month ever going to end? And then before you know it, after only 28 days (29 on leap years)... you're done! And it's like, whoa, it's March, spring is coming THIS month! So after a long winter February is a shorter month to liven the spirits and give hope to all of us stuck in winter.

On a different note. There are things people tell you that will happen during pregnancy and there are some things that people seem to either forget, or not want to talk about? And not all of them are THAT kind of personal. So I experienced a nose bleed last night, which apparently happens a lot to people during pregnancy. I was lying in bed, about to go to sleep when my nose just started leaking. First thought was that it was that watery stuff comes out when you're nose is all stuffed (side note: they don't tell you you will be stuffed up and congested for 9 months straight, it's annoying and one day I would like to be able to breathe normally again). But I thought I'd better check cause there was quite a bit of it. And then I turned on the light and my hand was all bloody. And my mirror confirmed my face was all bloody. And then it just kept leaking! Now I know for most of you this will be like an "uh doy" kind of thing. But I have never in my life experienced a nose bleed that I can consciously remember. I've been having blood in my nose, like when I blow my nose (tmi?), but this was a whole other kind of fun. So it didn't last very long and then I went to bed with some toilet paper under my nose (then I had crazy dreams with roller coasters and tube slides. It was good dreaming.). So there you have it, my very first nose bleed.

Also, has anyone used the new shop n' save carts... genius!

Pizza and The Outfit

I guess this blog post will have a few different things in it (pictures included, yay!)

The First...

This is the most awesome pizza we ate for dinner tonight. We went all out on it. We have this recipe off the internet for a mock recipe of the BBQ chicken pizza from California Pizza Kitchen. Only we have taken it and made it our own. I mostly just use the crust recipe now (cause I love it) and then do whatever the heck I want with the rest. First I make come bbq sauce. I've come to find there aren't a lot of bottled bbq sauces that are up to my taste (cause it's so fined and all...) so I make my own. Ketchup, brown sugar, minced garlic, lime juice, red pepper flakes and whatever seasonings I have on hand and feel like using. Then we cook up chicken, and put it in the sauce and spread on crust. The we add the rest of the toppings. Tonight had everything we love... chicken, bacon, green onions, avocados, tomatoes and of course plenty of cheese. Now the secret to awesome cheese on pizza is to put a layer down after the chicken/sauce mixture and then even more on top of all the toppings. Yummy. I ate a ton. I'm still full. Also, Jamo made a big ole batch of rice crispy treats. I might explode. Happy sigh.

The Second...

This is one of those silly things that I think some of us mother's to be (especially the first time around) think about: Baby's first outfit. All important and critical right? Right. So after searching and searching I think I have found the one, the outfit that baby will come home in. And isn't it adorable? I LOVE the colors and I have a special place in my heart for plaid. Plus it seems like a decent summer outfit for my baby to where for an hour and then spit up or poop on. So there it is, the most important decision has been made ;).

And Thirdly...

Some of you may remember when I built this shelf and only had two sad lonely green cubes in it, just waiting to have gender specific colors to accompany it. So here it is all boyified. And we're going with elephants as our theme, so there his elephant is. Also other cute baby stuff will go in it at some point. I found this cute elephant piggy bank on amazon that I want, one day I will have it and it will sit somewhere on this silly shelf (or maybe somewhere else, who knows). The best part of this, which you can't see, is that this shelf is now sitting on our futon due to lack of space. We're awesome.

Adventures in the ER

Jameson woke up nice and early this morning to go to work. I, as usual, got up then to go the the bathroom (I've calculated it at everything 3 hours during the night). I came back and laid in bed. And that's when the pain started coming. Now, I've had this before, I know it was caused by the McDonalds we ate the night before. A doctor before told me it was IBS. So I laid there and thought I would be fine, but alas, I thought I was going to die. Jamo went to work cause I told him I would be fine. I threw up, got on the computer and started feeling better. So I decided to try and sleep again (it's like 5:30 am at this point). As soon as I lay down it starts hurting again and I get really nauseous and puke like a maniac (tmi?). I then try and lay in bed and see if it will go away. After dieing and crying I decide I can't take it anymore and am going to the hospital. So I told Jamo that I was going, and he left work to come meet me. I drove myself to the hospital, cause it's not very far at all, stopping at times to puke out the car door. So I get there and find a lady at the check in and she asks if I'm pregnant and how far along. So I tell her and she gets someone to get me a wheelchair to wheel me to the OB floor. I also had to get a bucket to puke in on my way up, they got it to me just in time ;). So I get to the room and the beds are all messy and she has to clean one for me. Meanwhile, she tells me to put on a gown. And for the life of me I could not figure out how to snap that stupid thing up. They really need to make idiot proof ones for those who are in so much pain they can barely stand, let alone figure out there gowns. So I had to have her help me. And you know what I found? When you're in that much pain, you don't care at all about being umm, modest? I was like, just put the darn thing on so I can sit down. So I sit, they check my blood pressure, hook me up to a baby heart rate monitor (they suck at finding it and mostly just found mine in my stomach). Baby was fine, heart rate was normal, but I was in deathly pain. So after all the hoopla and basics they tell me to wait for the doctor. They sit me up and I start feeling better. By the time the doctor comes in I'm feeling almost normal (of course). He asks me like two questions and then tells me I probably have some acid reflux thing, because he, himself, has it. He starts telling me what symptoms I have and what it should feel like. And I'm like no, those aren't my symptoms. And start going more into detail. After that he started semi listening to me. And said it might be my gall bladder or acid something or other (he was really hung up on it). But also that there wasn't a lot he could do about it and that more tests would have to be run. And some of those couldn't be done until after the kid was born. So he ended up calling my OB, who ps, I've never even met do to a change in doctors that happened this past week. And they told me to take zantac and to make a follow up appointment. Needless to say, I think the guy was an idiot. And they pretty much did nothing. So I'll probably be billed for sitting in a bed being hooked up to a baby monitor and having a doctor too hung up on his own illness to even think my problem might be something else. Oh well, it should go towards our deductible, which I should be hitting anyway this year with this kid. Also, I think they should just take out my gall bladder. I think it would be best and maybe I can eat without fear again. And since I know I'm hitting my deductible this year, and mostly likely my max out of pocket limit, we might as well throw it on right? While we may have crappy insurance, it's still nice to have it. So I need to call my doctor tomorrow and see if she wants to see my sooner than the 8th, which is when my next appointment is. I just hope they take this seriously this time and finally fix it, cause I'm sick of it, dang it.

crafty baby fun

So since I found out we're having a boy, I've been doing some of the craft projects that I've been waiting to do. And here is what I did this week...

The big one is a diaper holder pouch that goes in your diaper bag. The smaller one is a travel diaper wipes case that I made fantastically awesome to match. And the button and string is a pacifier clip.

And I think they'll go nicely with this awesome diaper bag I bought, that should come at some point :S...So yeah, fun times. Now I need something new to do with my time.

21w4d

I'm trying to keep up with taking photos of myself occasionally as the pregnancy goes on. So here is my second photo on this blog of me at 21 weeks and 4 days...

I still don't think I look much different. I did eat quite a bit today though, so maybe a little bit bigger? Probably not. I feel like I've gained a ton this week though or should have with all the crappy food I've been eating (baby like).

I've also hit some nesting, especially since finding out that our sweet little baby will be a boy. It's really hard not to buy everything in the store. And then I've been making baby crafts the past few days (photos to come later). Bad part is that I've done so much that I don't really have a lot left that I wanted to do. And now I'm bored. But I do plan on doing some reading, on account of I have library books that need returned and another on reserve. I did finish "Emma" today though, it was an accomplishment for some reason. Anyway, nesting. I think we need to do our tax returns cause babies are expensive. Anyone want to buy us a crib? It's crazy. And I realized today how many clothes a kid actually needs and what a lack of them I have. I'm sure I'll get enough by the time he comes, but man!

Is it bad I'm bored with my own post tonight? And I feel like I'm rambling about nothing. But yay for a photo! K, that's all.

Lists and Sleep

So I've decided that I need to do more with my days. I need to be more productive with my time. And there are some projects that I want to get done before this baby comes and I have no time to do them. I have daily goals and longer term goals. And I find that I know I should be doing something, but I completely forget what it is. I'll make whole lists in my head the night before and forget them all in the morning. I'm going to blame this on "pregnancy brain". It got really bad yesterday. So along with all my daily habits I want to acquire, I'm making a list of things to do the next day and writing them down. So today, on my list, I have: grocery shopping, exercise, actually making dinner, clean the living room and digi-scrap the 4th of July. I also need to make sure my lists are realistic.

Also, the baby is kicking my butt. You would not believe how tired I was yesterday. It was bad. I got 10 hours of sleep, which is pretty typical right now. But I don't know if I was a bit sick or just had an overly exciting day on Monday, but I couldn't function. Jamo suggested I take a nap (I hadn't been up an hour yet), so I did. I woke up 4 hours later! It was crazy.

And my dreams are out of control. A lot of them are doomsday, end of the world, people chasing me, trying to save the world dreams. And the ones this morning were intense and just kept going! Sleep and I are fickle friends lately.

And it's a...

And that about sums up this post!
